Short Bio
I am in the Department of Mathematics.
I also belong to the Institute for Foundations of Data Science and have a secondary affiliation with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering.
In Fall 2020 I started a tenure track position at UW Madison and was awarded the Nellie McKay Fellowship. Prior to my time at Madison, I had an NSF Postdoc with Jon Hauenstein and was a Provost’s Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago with Lek-Heng Lim.
I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where I became a McNair Scholar with Eric Katz as a faculty mentor. After getting a bachelors degree in pure math, I began the PhD program at UC Berkeley. There I was awarded a Chancellor's Fellowship and worked with Bernd Sturmfels, which is how I became interested in applied algebraic geometry.
Here is a link to a talk at the Simons Institute about my thesis work.
Applied Algebra+ Community
At UW Madison we run an Applied Algebra Seminar.
We meet at 11am Central Time on Thursdays.I co-organized the SIAM SAGA (recordings).
I am a member of the SIAM Activity Group in Algebraic Geometry, which brings together researchers who use algebraic geometry in industrial and applied mathematics.
Main conference: AG25, AG23, AG21, AG19, AG17, AG15, AG13.When it runs, I attend the Algebraic Statistics Online Seminar.
This IMSI (Chicago) long program will be Fall 2023: September 18 — December 15, 2023
The program will have four workshops spread out through the semester.
There will be research seminars which run weekly for visitors and people staying throughout the semester.
Students and postdocs are encouraged to apply to stay for the entire semester.
Applications are open!
