Required Project Documentation
You've created something great. Inspire others by telling them about it. All HEX-U Projects are required to be documented in a publicly-sharable form, and shared with the Center. Some documentation may need to be done along the way, so be sure to think about this ahead of time. Possible ideas for sharable documentation forms:
- Storytelling apps (with publicly-sharable outputs)
- Photo essay, 8 photo minimum, shared on webpage, photo sharing site, etc. *The Center may be able to provide photography services. Inquire with the Program Coordinator.
- Blog post
- Video clip, 2-5 minutes
- Archived live streams
- Podcast / sound clip, 5-10 minutes
Additional Publicity Opportunities
Consider writing and sending a press release to:
- The Weekly student newsletter at UW-Madison
- The Badger Herald
- The Isthmus newspaper (see link to share story ideas)
Tweet about it and tag @UWMadison
Market your community events through other local news outlets such as:
- The Madison Capital Times
- The Madison Times
- BRAVA Magazine (womens-oriented events)
Talking Up Your Project
HEX-U scholars should get comfortable defining and explaining their role as the director of a HEX-U project, as a public scholar, and as an advocate for the humanities beyond the formal limits of the university. Take a minute to familiarize yourself with the mission of HEX-U, and that of the Center for the Humanities.
Talking points about your project and HEX-U might include:
- Your project develops connections between UW-Madison and the greater Madison community
- The project places your academic research and scholarly interests in a public context
- The project serves the needs of one or more Dane County communities
- The project encourages increased public appreciation of the value of the humanities
- The project's objectives and process are the result of collaboration and consultation between you and your community partner
