In order to be considered for sponsorship by the Department of Theatre and Drama, the student organization must adhere to the following guidelines:
Must be a recognized Registered Student Organization (RSO) in good standing through the Center for Leadership & Involvement at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
2/3rds of the RSO’s Executive Board need to be declared Theatre Majors or Theatre Certificate Students
RSO must have retained a Theatre & Drama advisor
RSO must have a minimum of 10 members
In order to for Theatre and Drama Sponsored RSO’s to use the theatre spaces at no cost, the production team, overseen by the RSO’s board of directors, must adhere to the following guidelines:
Lighting Designer needs to have taken Theatre 366 or have mentor approval
Set Designer needs to have taken Theatre 372 or have mentor approval
Costume Designer needs to have taken Theatre 263 or 363 or have mentor approval
Sound Designer needs to have taken Sound Technology or Sound Design I or mentor approval
Technical Director needs to have approval of Scene Studio Supervisor
Stage Manager needs to have taken Theatre 379 or have mentor approval
Director must have taken Theatre 367 Script Analysis and 368 Directing or have mentor approval
*assistants to any of the above positions do not need these requisites
All productions in our spaces need to be proposed to and approved by the Department Production Committee.
Damages. The User agrees not to damage, destroy, or deface any property of the University and agrees to be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement of any University property damaged, destroyed or defaced by those in attendance. If property (lobby, house, stage, backstage & dressing rooms) is not returned to prior rental status, User agrees to pay a service fee of $100.00 per hour to return property to proper status.
User is financially responsible for all damage to the facilities and for more than normal custodial services, including cleaning necessitated by food and beverages being consumed in approved and unapproved areas. The rate for such services is $100 per hour. User is responsible for assuring that the Theatre is returned to its original condition following the Program and that the caterer (if applicable) has removed all food, supplies, recyclables, and trash from the Theatre within the time period designated.
Keys: User understands that all keys must be signed out to them in advance and carry the same rules and regulations of them of any permanent staff in the department. They must return the keys by the end the first business day following the event. The Theatre and Drama office is located in room 6173 Vilas Hall, and open 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
