WHAT types of activities will participants of the ASI engage in?

Participants will identify barriers to establishing and maintaining diverse and inclusive relationships in STEM contexts. Participants will generate and practice proactive strategies for overcoming these barriers, as individuals as well as communities, through engagement in the Inclusive Professional Framework for Faculty:

• Explore knowledge, attitudes and skills around identity

• Explore knowledge, attitudes and skills around interculturalism

• Explore knowledge, attitudes and skills around communication & relational skills

Throughout the virtual institute, participants will enjoy a mix of personal reflection, group discussion, activities, and practice.

Daily Agenda

The Aspire Summer Institute will take place from Monday, June 7th, 2021 to Friday, June 11th, 2021. A tentative agenda for the flow of daily sessions is included below. There will be some variation within the times listed, but we have tried to have a similar structure across the week to allow for consistent work and break times. A full schedule of the week will be posted prior to the ASI, please see the 2020 Aspire Summer Institute agenda for an example of past activities and structure.
