Language and Literature - English

The aims of the MYP Language and Literature course provides a framework of learning that emphasizes intellectual challenge and encourages connections between studies in traditional subjects and the real world. The MYP focuses on “learning how to learn” through the systematic development of approaches to learning (ATL) skills for communication, collaboration, organization, self-management, reflection, research, informational literacy, media literacy, creative and critical thinking, and transfer of learning. It also fosters intercultural understanding and global engagement —essential qualities for young people today. 

Language and Literature -Chinese

The Chinese Language and Literature course aims to nurture an understanding and appreciation of the Chinese language and literature, recognizing their intrinsic power and beauty. It emphasizes the significance of language proficiency as a potent tool for effective communication within any society and enables students to use the Chinese language as a vehicle for thought, creativity, reflection, learning, self-expression, analysis, and social interaction. Additionally, the course encourages the exploration of creative processes, stimulating imagination, and promoting self-expression as integral aspects of Chinese language and literary studies.

Maths

Students will study the traditional topics of number, algebra, geometry and handling data in the form of personalised units. They will use their communication skills to describe how mathematics can be applied to describe a variety of real life situations. 

Science

Our MYP science course covers a balance of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Sciences. Through MYP sciences, students will learn to appreciate and respect the ideas of others, gain good ethical-reasoning skills and further develop their sense of responsibility as members of local and global communities. 

Arts

The Arts in the MYP seek to stimulate imaginations, challenge perceptions and develop creative and analytical skills. Involvement in the Arts encourages students to understand the Arts in context and the cultural histories of artworks, supporting the development of an inquiring and empathetic world view. The Arts challenge and enrich personal identity, and build awareness of the aesthetic in a real-world context. Through development of the imagination, students can become more empathetic and compassionate, they can enrich their cultural lives and discover new ways to contribute actively both to their own communities and to the world.

Design

In MYP Design, students study six different design specialism including, Computer Science, Digital Design, Engineering, Food & Nutrition, Product Design & Textiles. Students follow the design cycle to research, develop, make and evaluate a product. They learn a wide range of digital and practical technology skills and use industry standard software and machinery.

I&S

IB MYP I&S encourages learners to respect and understand the world around them and equips them with the necessary skills to inquire into historical, contemporary, geographical, political, social, economic, religious, technological and cultural factors that have an impact on individuals, societies and environments. 

Language acquisition (Spanish, French and Chinese)



MYP Languages

MYP Spanish/French/Chinese Language Acquisition is a programme designed by the International Baccalaureate for students to learn Spanish/French/Chinese within a continuum, from Phase 1 to Phase 6. You can start the programme as a beginner, with very limited or no exposure to the language, continue to the capable level, and complete it at the proficient level.

The aims of MYP physical and health education are to encourage and enable students to use inquiry to explore physical and health education concepts, participate effectively in a variety of contexts and understand the value of physical activity.
