MAP GROWTH REMOTE TESTING GUIDANCE
FOR FAMILIES / PARENTS

Student to Student: What is it like to take a MAP Test?

Hello Warrior Families,

Assessments are powerful tools that give our staff an opportunity to gain a more complete picture of their students’ strengths and opportunities for growth as we support them with instructional decisions for their academic achievement.

To support parents and families during remote testing including the upcoming MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Test, we are excited to share our new Testing and Assessment Guidance Webpage. The resources help students and parents to understand what MAP Testing is, what it is like to take the assessment, and how parents can support their child.

At Winton Woods City Schools, MAP testing is administered in the fall, winter, and spring. Below you will find our information on our fall assessments. Students will receive additional information from their homeroom teacher (Grades 1-4) or their English/Language Arts teacher (Grades 5-10).

Common MAP Troubleshooting

"Oops! Where's my test window?" Page

This is normal! Map always opens 2 windows initially. A tab with this message opens first, then is quickly covered up by a second full screen Map window used for testing. When you close the testing screen, this page is always visible! Try it yourself!

"Requires 1024x768 screen resolution" Readiness Check Error (or similar)

If the student has increased their zoom/magnification drastically, Map will display this error. Pressing the keyboard keys Ctrl + Shift + 0 (zero) will reset the magnification to 100% and Map will proceed on a second try.

Testing Links on Student Portal

Students can open Map using the NWEA Map Test item on either of the student portals. (The student portal can be opened with the "home" icon in Chrome.)
