Hello! My name is Kristiana (Kristi) Slocum and I have wanted to be a First Grade Teacher ever since 7th Grade! My passion for my kiddos comes from the role models that I have had in my years as a student. I spent my first few years of education in a private Christian school, then a few more years being home schooled by my mother, and for my 7th grade year, I joined the Winthrop Public School system. I graduated from Winthrop in 2007. I graduated from Cedarville University, a small Baptist Bible College in Ohio, in 2011!
Before landing my feet in First Grade, I did a full year of Substitute Teaching at Winthrop. I found this very helpful -- I was able to learn about the school community and get my feet wet. In the late fall of 2011, I was offered a Full-Time Substitute position in First Grade, which I accepted with a bit of disbelief and a lot of excitement. Before summer vacation in 2012, I was offered the First Grade Teaching position, which I gladly accepted!
I am so blessed to be working alongside three wonderful First Grade teachers, a supportive Principal, and SO many others in the community. It is so much fun to be teaching in my home town. It nice to see some familiar faces and it's more than likely that you'll bump into me at Hannaford!
I was adopted from the Philippines when I was 2 years old.
I am the youngest of four other adopted children.
I love zebras. For those of you who have already visited the classroom, you must already know this...your children certainly do!
I love Starbucks coffee.
I love to go shopping at T.J. Maxx!
I love baking, singing, painting, and spending time with my friends and family!
My favorite color is silver.
I got married to Mr. Slocum on July 23, 2016 and immediately became a mother of four kiddos. In February of 2020, we welcomed our fifth kiddo, so life is BUSY in the Slocum household!
