Create and hand out "care packages" to the homeless.
My mission for this project is to give some basic needs to the homeless people that stand on the side of the road. I would always drive by them and sometimes give them a couple of dollars, but that is not going to buy much. So I decided to make care packages to brighten up their day. With the winter packages, I was just starting so only handed out a total of 8. Now that I am more advanced with the spring packages, I have handed out 15 and have plans to increase that number. The look on their faces when I give them a whole bags of goods is what drives me to make more peoples days.
The basic needs that I provided for the care packages are water, and snacks. Pictured here are chips and a granola bar, but it varied with trail mix, cookies, and more.
When I was putting these together, I realized how vital water is, so I provided 2 water for each bag. For food, I made sure to have a variety with 3 snacks in each bag.
During the winter, I made sure to have small gloves to help keep their hands warmer. But now, moving into spring, the bugs can be bad, so I decided to provide small bottles of bug spray.
During the summer, I plan on adding sunscreen to these bags because sitting outside in the burning heat is not good for your skin.
