Boise Backcountry Alliance is working to help create, preserve, and manage areas of public land across the Boise National Forest (and surrounding region) for quiet, non-motorized winter recreation. We are a group of backcountry skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, cross-country skiers, and winter walkers. We educate ourselves and the public about issues affecting the backcountry, we attend public meetings to represent non-motorized interests, and we network with other organizations in Idaho to achieve common goals.

The Boise Backcountry Alliance is working to carry on the history and tradition of decades of conservation and human-powered recreation advocacy work on the Boise National Forest and surrounding region. This includes the work of previous groups such as The Nordic Voice (1991-2013) and the Boise / Payette Backcountry Coalition (1987-1991). Pictured here is a sign installed at Mores Creek Summit, a USFS letter and map from 2003 detailing designated non-motorized zones for winter recreation. This agreement was the result of collaboration between members of The Nordic Voice, the Idaho State Snowmobile Association, the Boise National Forest and others.
