Since her beginnings in sculpture 34 years ago Esther has also enjoyed other styles of sculpting from direct hands on, one of a kind metal pieces to traditional cast bronze works.
Esther shows her work in a few galleries across the country and her own gallery in Pipe Creek , Texas. Her body of work has extensive wall pieces and sculptures She also has a sculpture walk at her gallery. “It is incredible to see metal come to life. I love to see people walk up and interact with a life-size piece or smile because the piece has touched their heart and just a short time ago it was cold hard metal”
Gourd Artists
Gourd art is a unique art form that is practiced in cultures all over the world. From the field to fine art. Little did they know, that planting a simple seed would lead to a unique journey.
Roy’s interest in art started at an early age. He took art classes in school and was a member of the Art Club in high school. After serving four years in the Air Force, he then earned his B.S. Degree in Art from Lamar University. After retirement, using his pen and ink skills, he drew local landmarks. His pen and ink drawing skills were transferred to pyrography (fire drawing) on gourds. Gourds are now the new canvases.
Blanche’s interest in gourd art started later after observing Roy creating works of art from gourds. She decided to try doing pyrography and quickly started carving and using other techniques to create her own style of gourd art. A year later, they were both represented by an art gallery in Fredericksburg, TX and in Santa Fe, NM for seven years.
They were also participating in juried art shows while being represented by the two galleries. After both galleries were sold, they decided, for now, to only pursue juried art shows. The juried shows give them an opportunity to visit with people and share their passion for this unique art form. It is rewarding to visit with people who embrace their art and return to the shows year after year to visit and to see their new creations.
Their goal is for their art to find a place in someone else’s life and bring them as much pleasure as it did to the artists when they created it.
They have been honored to win numerous awards such as Best in Show, Best in Class, Best in Category as well as People’s Choice Awards. They were also featured in the Texas Country Reporter TV Show (You-Tube “Cavarretta Gourds”).
National award winning artist Donald Darst paints a variety of subjects in oil and occasionally acrylic.
His landscapes are subtle often tonal with an impressionist quality. His still lifes are done in Chiaroscuro style, where the subjects appear to be coming from the dark. His figurative work, whether animals or people, tell a story.
Donald is inspired by artists of the Hudson River School. He also loves the early Dutch and the way they depicted everyday life in their paintings. Modern day artists he particularly admires are: Nancy Bush, Michael Workman, Douglas Fryer, Dennis Sheehan, and Guy Morrow.
Whether painting outside or painting in the studio, Don enjoys the process of art and talking to people about it. He encourages others to "Follow Their Bliss," as Joseph Campbell said believing there is art in all of us and it’s a life worth following.
You can find Donald's work in Helotes Gallery, located in the historic Old Town of Helotes, Texas and in Fredericksburg, Texas at Grasshopper & Wild Honey. He is a member of OPA, the Coppini Academy, SA Art League and Museum, and AIS.

Originally from Kentucky, he served in the Air Force as a Russian Interpreter and had a corporate career in computer systems technology, management training, and process improvement consulting. Art came later in life but as he says, "Art is never too soon or too late to enjoy."

Fused Glass Artist
Hallettsville, Texas
I’m a fused glass artists that loves working with glass, cutting it, heating it to extreme temperatures, mixing colors, shaping, slumping and challenging myself to see what can be accomplished and what the glass allows me to do. I love glass and its beauty and realize that in the right hands and with a creative eye, it can be dazzling and spectacular.
My career in glass started about 40 years ago and I really enjoyed working in the medium. Life got busy and I left my art only to come back about 20 years ago. Upon my return to the artistry of glass, I was surprised and excited to see the changes in glass art. I was drawn to the fused glass process and began to take classes to learn the process.
I was instantly hooked, bought a kiln and the rest is history. My work in fused glass has won several awards at art shows in Ruidoso New Mexico (three consecutive years in a row), at the Local Gallery in my hometown and in the art league in Victoria, Texas.
I hope you enjoy my work and follow me to see what is new, as I’m always exploring to keep expanding horizons.

I’ve always viewed the world around me as something made, designed, and arranged. Colors and lines have been placed just so. Shapes take up space or leave it empty. Every dark makes light more brilliant. Each hue has a unique relationship with another, fighting and befriending. What my eyes perceive is more than a haphazard collection of chaos. These seemingly isolated pieces are just fragments in an ever-changing kaleidescope. Brilliant, making sense, designing compositions of glory as it moves in light. My creative impulse is to make what I’ve seen and visually convey that which leaves me speechless.
Though I’ve explored various media, I keep returning to what best captures and communicates what I see. Mixed media provides a way to tell a story. I begin each piece with what I’ve been given — scraps, used and new materials, and an in-the-beginning idea. The building initiates as a problem presents itself — something that threatens cohesion and beauty. It is only through a string of decisions and the stewarding of hope and failure, that the layers begin to expose what I’m learning. Cosmos out of chaos. I find I’m going to wrestle with it before I embrace it, hate it before I appreciate it, be offended by it before I find it beautiful — much like life. The process pulls me back to truth every time. Each piece I create holds a story and tells of a sojourn through which God has led me. I’m continually learning to hold things loosely and trust there is purpose in the mess — something this introverted perfectionist fights against. My work provides a window into that surrender.
