Project location: Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Need: The campus of 48 acres has a major level difference of around 7.5m down on the southern part than the north part. So the water logging was the main concern here and also to incorporate the statutory guidelines.
Work done:
Sujalaam has helped in technical analysis to do the groundwater recharge for such a large site and shared the design brief report to make the recharge structures across the site.
There were 25 locations identified to build the Class - V infusion well.
The Class - V Infusion well system has been built to recharge the water at shallow subsurfaces of the strata.
In the recharge structure, a filter is fitted above the borewell. This filter is made of two concentric SS V wire screens of different diameter holes (Inner screen in cylindrical shape with 6” dia. and outer screen is 12” dia with 2m of total depth). A packing of filter media is done in between these two concentric screens. The water’s secondary filtration happens here before recharging at about 150 feet depth in the aquifer.
Benefits:
Water logging problem in the campus has been taken care of through these structures.
Approximately, 10,000 Cu.Mtr. Rainwater has been recharged annually since 2013.
