Our Website

This is our website, we work on connecting people with excess or unused sports equipment and get them with a person that needs that equipment. This website can be implemented into cities and connect people that are in need with people that would like the equipment.

 Many families around the world have recently been struggling to afford sports equipment and in the last  year, the amount of money that people spend on sports equipment doubled according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Our team found that the average amount of money that families have to spend on sports is over one thousand dollars annually and for some families that is a lot. To show this we take the average person's income in California which is around 60,000 and do the math and find out that almost 2% of the money that a person makes is being spent on sports annually. 

Another reason why sports can be so expensive to play is because you need a lot of equipment. According to the information off of Wilsons and Dicks sporting goods, some stuff that you need for soccer is a soccer ball (around $30), soccer cleats ($140), shin guards ($17), and many more items. For baseball, you need a glove (ranging from $200-$500), a bat ($200) , a helmet ($50), and baseballs ($50 for around 100 of them) . For football, you need pads and a helmet (generally ranging around $300-$1000) and a football ($60). So, in total, this can add up very fast and end up costing a lot. 

 Although some of the money spent on sports is referees, coaches, and even travel, a lot of the money is spent on equipment itself. Sports equipment costs so much not only because it is sport specific and so it helps people play safe, but it generally makes the person a better athlete. For example, Adidas launched a new running shoe that made people run a marathon more than a minute faster. 

 We feel like this is a good topic to work on not only because we have passions for sports, but also because 48% of Americans play or enjoy sports. Our project is trusted because we went out and asked people to rate our project out of five, and the average number was 4.

What is our product?

Our product is a website that connects people in need with others willing to help and donate/sell their old sports equipment because sports equipment is near impossible to recycle and so once people feel like the sports equipment is either old or broken, they just throw it away. So, with our website, we will be able to make it so once people feel like they don't need it, they can just donate and give it away.

Our Goal

Our goals are to help the people that can't afford to pay for sports be able to play sports because we love sports and think that other people should be able to experience what we have a passion for.
