Hello families,
Thank you to those families that came to the Mandatory Washington, DC meeting last night. I appreciate all the great questions that were asked and the fact that you took time to help ensure the trip goes smoothly for your child.
Families that were not able to attend, your child will receive a folder of forms today. Some of then need to be completed and returned. The Behavior expectations and the Cancellation policy are copies of forms you have already signed, they are for your information only.
Please send in a copy of your child's insurance card with the medical form.
Here is the slide presentation from last night. I added a slide specific to purchasing travel insurance. Please make sure you take time to review the information.
Thank you

Hello families of Eighth Grade Students!
We will be continuing the Sage Park trip to Washington, DC for 4 days/3 nights again this year. This year the trip will be run by Academic and Performance Travel. They have put together a package that includes all the must visits, a dinner at Dave and Buster’s, and the majority of other meals.
A preliminary itinerary has been developed, but will likely be tweaked up until and even during the trip. This is very normal as we will work to maximize our time in the Capitol for the best trip possible.
Currently, we are working to create and hold several fundraisers to help defray the cost of the trip. Some of the things we have planned include:
A Vendor Fair on October 28
Lyman Orchards Pies in time for Thanksgiving
Sage Park Swag - T-Shirts, SweatShirts, etc
Concessions at Athletic events
Popcorn in the Winter or Spring
To benefit from the fundraisers a student or family must participate in fundraising in some way. This may mean selling pies or volunteering to help with the Vendor fair or concessions.
We hope every student will participate in the trip this year as the fundraising should help families decrease the cost considerably. The cost of the trip this year will depend on the number of students per bus. If we can fill the buses with 43 students per bus, the cost will be $688.00. Travel insurance is not included in the amount. We strongly suggest and recommend that everyone purchases trip cancellation insurance. Specifically, trip cancellation insurance that has the option to add “Cancel for any reason”. This will help the participant recover some money should they need to cancel for Covid or any other reason. We don’t endorse any specific company. Following are two potential agencies you can choose to work with:
Deposits are due no later than September 29, 2023 along with the Academic & Performance Travel Indemnity form, a signed Behavior Expectation form and the Google form indicating a desire to participate. Other forms will need to be completed prior to leaving for the trip, including an indemnity form for the school district that must be notarized. We will have a notary public available during the parent meeting. You must have a valid picture id to get the District Indemnity form notarized.
Please see the 8th Grade DC Trip Website for updates and more information.
I hope all students will be able to join us on the trip!
