Good evening Dover families,
Attached please find the most recent update from our Superintendent. School will be in session tomorrow and Tuesday and after school programs will run but please make note of the Superintendent’s comment that your child’s attendance is a family decision. The attendance procedures are being waived for the next two days so if you can make arrangements, please don’t hesitate to keep your children home. Due to expected low attendance, it is not likely there will be any new instructional material over the next two days. Teachers will be sending some materials home on Tuesday, however, they will begin working Wednesday through Friday to prepare materials for a longer outage to begin on Monday 3/23.
If you would please help us prepare by completing this survey:
It is very important that ALL families complete this survey. Thank you!
As always, please call the school if you have any questions and certainly if your child will be out tomorrow and/or Tuesday. Thank you!
Matt
Below is information to outline our continuity plan in response to COVID-19l. This is different than a school closure such as a snow day. The VT Agency of Education defines a school dismissal as:
“during a school dismissal, a school might stay open for staff members while the children stay home. Keeping facilities open during a dismissal allows teachers to develop and deliver lessons and materials remotely to maintain continuity of teaching and learning and allows other staff members to continue to provide services and help with additional response efforts.”
Below are specifics to the following topics during a school dismissal:
School Food Program:
The food program will continue during the dismissal.
Meals can be picked up each day at between 11:30 and 12:30 at Dover School
Meals will most likely consist of a bagged lunch and next day’s breakfast.
Academic Guidelines
Assignments will be picked up and dropped off on a specific day during the week.
Teachers will be available daily for check-ins.
Communication from your child’s classroom teacher will be via email, video chat, or phone.
Students will be provided with 2-3 hours of academic work per day.
Academic work may also include additional time for Spanish, P.E., Music, Library or Art.
Health and wellbeing
Please notify the office of any and all student illnesses during the school dismissal. Please also notify the office if you are choosing to practice safe social distancing and keeping your child (children) home. All absences related to COVID-19 will be considered excused.
We are required to ask questions that need to be reported to various agencies. All information will be shared anonymously.
