Below, please find a list of AI tools currently provided as a license and/or supported, vetted, and approved by the Windber Area School District. This list includes standalone AI tools and does not cover AI features embedded within other educational platforms (e.g., Padlet, Canva).
The district is committed to supporting staff in the thoughtful and responsible use of AI while ensuring that student privacy and data security remain a top priority.
The district will continue to review, vet, and add AI tools as they become available and appropriate for instructional or operational use. Newly approved tools will be added to the Blue and White page.
If you notice an AI tool missing from this list, please email Frank, Tim, or Jake.
Any AI tool not listed should not be used until it has been vetted and approved by our Technology Team.
Gemini is currently the main AI tool approved and available to staff.
Students do not currently have access to any district-licensed AI tools.

While we encourage staff to explore AI as a tool to improve efficiency, planning, and professional practice, please be cautious when using free or public AI tools outside of our licensed system. These platforms often lack the privacy and security protections required for school use.
Staff should NOT:
Enter student names, student IDs, or personally identifiable information (PII) into any AI tool outside of the district-approved system.
Upload or copy IEPs, 504 plans, evaluation reports, grades, attendance data, or discipline records into AI platforms.
Input student work, writing samples, or assessment data that can be linked to an individual student into public or free AI tools.
Use AI tools to analyze or generate content based on confidential student information.
Require or encourage students to create accounts or use AI tools that have not been approved by the district.
When in doubt, stick with our approved tools or reach out for guidance. Our goal is to leverage AI responsibly while protecting our students, staff, and district.
