School counseling is a partnership between counselor and student, working together with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop a sense of community within the school. School Counselors support the educational process by assisting students in the areas of career awareness, personal development, decision-making, education planning, and communications skills.

What does the School Counselor Do?
Direct Student Services: In-person interactions between the school counselor and students.
Career planning: Ongoing activities designed to assist students in establishing personal goals and developing future plans.
Academic Planning: Develop action plans for the student to overcome obstacles in order to maximize their success in the classroom.
Responsive services: Activities designed to meet students’ immediate needs and concerns, may include counseling in individual or small-group settings or crisis response.
Indirect Student Services: Interactions with outside agencies providing additional student assistance, consultation and collaboration with parents, teachers, other educators and community organizations.
