PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. The program is used as a means of encouraging positive behavior throughout the school. Students are encouraged to be safe, respectful, responsible and show they care. When students are observed behaving in this manner, they can receive a Rambler Buck. The students then have an opportunity to spend their Rambler Bucks during incentive days or to purchase various items throughout the school year.
PBIS is a behavior program that is used in many schools throughout the United States. The program is based on rewarding students for their good choices, in order to promote positive behavior and create a positive school climate. Our hope is that by strengthening and teaching positive behaviors we can decrease problem behaviors.
The PBIS team uses a proactive and consistent approach to create a predictable, safe, and positive school wide culture that promotes academic achievement, acceptable behavior, and the overall wellness of all students.
Windber Elementary School will:
will teach, model, and practice each of the building-wide behavioral expectations
display and use PBIS materials for each area of the building
use the Behavioral Flow Chart process when working with students who fail to meet building-wide and/or classroom expectations
support PBIS in various ways such as participation in celebrations, promotion programs, and implementation of discipline strategies
The PBIS team members are here to support Windber Area Elementary in order to ensure student expectations are taught and reinforced so that behavioral incidents are kept to a minimum. The Elementary PBIS team members are as follows:
