Attendance: Attendance is important. All absences require a written excuse upon your child’s return to school. Please see the school handbook for more information.
Bus Numbers: Each child received a bus tag with his/her bus number on it. This number is the bus that they take from school to home at the end of the school day. Please leave this on your child’s backpack. It will help to ensure that your child gets on the correct bus. This is also important as it has your child’s cafeteria number. Please help your child learn their cafeteria number.
Breakfast: If you are planning to allow your child to have breakfast in the morning and you are transporting your child to school, please make sure they arrive at school with enough time to eat breakfast. School begins at 8:30.
Communication: Communication is key. Please feel free to write me a note or give me a call if you have any questions or concerns. My school email address is: ldambrosia@windberschools.org. You can also check out what we are doing in our classroom newsletters. Your child will receive a folder and the folder is a great place to include excuses and notes. Please check your child's folder daily for any classroom news Please note that updates will be made to my school webpage. Helpful information will be posted on there. You can also message me through the ParentSquare App. This is the most effective and timely means of communication.
ParentSquare: This app is a communication tool where you can get information via a text and or email.
Clothing/Coats: Clothing should be easy for your child to pull up when he/she uses the bathroom. It should be appropriate for the weather. When the weather is a little chilly, we may still go outside. Coats and backpacks will be kept on the student’s chairs this year.
Labels: Daily belongings need to be labeled with your child’s name for easy identification. This includes lunchbox, backpacks, jackets, hats and personal items. Often students may have the same coat, backpack, etc. Having your child’s name on items, will help to identify who the item belongs to.
Zippers and Shoelaces: Please practice zipping, snapping, & buttoning jackets as well as tying shoelaces with your child.
Snack: Students should bring a snack daily. The snacks will be kept in their backpack. Students will have water with snacks. I will be sending home a "ziplock" bag for snacks.
Birthdays: If you are interested, birthday celebrations will be held on the child’s birthday or as close as possible to the actual day. You are welcome to send a treat with your child for the celebration. Please make sure there are enough treats for each student. We currently have 21 students in our class. BIRTHDAY TREATS MUST BE STORE BOUGHT and INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED!
Lunch: Meals are free this year for all students. Students may pack lunch or order through the cafeteria. If your child prefers to pack, please consider to pack items that your child can open by his/herself.
Water Bottles: Please send your child in with a water bottle. Students may only have water in these bottles. I ask that the bottle be easy for your child to use, but yet not easy to spill. Please do not send in glass water bottles. Students may use these throughout the day. Please label with your child's name on the bottle.
Items Needed: Please send in with your child a spare set of clothes in a bag with your child’s name on it. These will be kept in your child's backpack. I will send home a Ziplock type bag for this. Please send in if possible a box of tissues for the students to share.
Reading: Students will grow as readers and writers. Setting an at home reading time will help your child grow as a reader. Students will be sent home with take home readers. Please support your child by reading with them and allowing them to read to you. They enjoy this one on one time and you will get to see them connect with words and reading.
Homework: Homework will be sent home in your child’s folder. Please return when possible the next day of school. Please contact me with any questions.
Looking forward to a great year!
