Summer enrichment classes are taught by Winchester Public Schools teachers and staff. Our hope is that you will find a class that will keep your children engaged and excited to learn something new. Classes will be kept small to foster connection and build community.
Classes will run if there are enough students signed up.

Each week we will offer a DIFFERENT "theme," focusing our creativity on art projects and other activities related to that theme. We will also utilize building toys, drawing tools, and playdough to express our imaginations and inventiveness. Then, we will energize our bodies while calming our minds with yoga and a variety of body movement games and exercises targeting strength, flexibility, and coordination. Children will learn to focus, calm, and center themselves through breathing and visualization exercises, and then “turn on” their silly sides as they enjoy fun yoga games, music, and storytelling. Opportunities to integrate self-expression and reflection will be built into each day! Your child should bring a yoga mat or beach towel, a water bottle and snack each day.

Do you like to build with LEGOs? Come join us for a cool summer program where you can build to your heart's content!
We will have time for indoor "free play," snack & outdoor play for some fresh air. In addition to building, there will be a daily theme where we will play a game, try a LEGO challenge, or create a LEGO craft. LEGOs will be provided and while we cannot send home your child’s creation, we will send photos home at the end of the session.

We are excited to bring together two of our most popular programs; Leveled Up Crafty Creations and Sweet Treats, No Heat!
Your child will design and create crafts beyond your basic paper, paint, and glue projects. The end goal is to level up your child’s crafting skills to incorporate advanced design and technique for more sophisticated crafting. By the end, your child will have “leveled up” with new techniques and thoughtful design touches that bring their projects to life in bold and creative ways.
Craft creations may include:
Designing and personalizing a crafting apron, pencil case, or like item with iron on vinyl cut on a Cricut, iron on patches, colored fabric markers, and paint markers.
Glass jar lanterns decorated with acrylic paint pens, ribbon, and lit up with a battery operated tea light
Tie Dye a tote bag or like item

In addition, your child will whisk up some fun and sprinkle on the smiles with Sweet Treats, No Heat! Young chefs will step into the magical world of no-bake desserts, where ovens take a nap and creativity steals the show. We will mix, stir, scoop, and swirl our way through tasty creations like cereal cookie bars, brownie batter bites, fruit parfaits, cookie dough balls, and other sweet surprises. Along the way, kids will practice following simple recipes, measuring ingredients, and safely using kitchen tools, all while exploring new textures, flavors, and colorful toppings. Whether your little chef is brand new to the kitchen or already loves to stir and sprinkle at home, this class is all about growing confidence, sparking creativity, and whipping up delicious memories one no-bake masterpiece at a time. And the cherry on top? At the end of each class, our sweet chefs will have extra treats to bring home and share a little box of handmade happiness for the whole family to enjoy!

Calling all creative minds who want to join me on some writing & word play adventures this summer! Do you love to do word play? Do you love to write? Then this fun summer session is for you.
Explore word play and writing in a fun and creative environment. We will immerse ourselves in a variety of activities including Word Talks, Boggle, Wordl and other word games. Have a blast with your peers through group play and expand your creative thinking. Write to your favorite author. Create your own stationery. Create and solve a word code. Fun adventures in word play and writing await you. The only thing you need is a labeled water bottle and a nut-free snack!

Lights, camera, action! Movie Making is a rigorous and fun process. Students will write a collaborative script together during the first few days. At the end of the week, students will produce the movie learning the roles of actor, director, camera and microphone technician. If you enjoy creative writing, this is the class for you!

Math Battles is for the students that enjoy math and competition. Students will learn problem solving skills and apply them to topics such as geometry, number theory, arithmetic, and algebriac concepts that will challenge and excite them in pursuit of mathematical concepts. Students will work on solving problems and then discuss strategies they used to solve them with each other to facilitate learning and gaining another's perspective when confronted with a unique problem.

Students will learn the basics of kitchen safety, sanitation, and cooking! The students will receive instruction, demonstration, support, and supervision from a Winchester High School Culinary Arts teacher to prepare sweet treats as well as nutritious snacks. Once prepared the students will have the opportunity to enjoy the items and reflect upon the process and product.
Sports and More!
The students will have a chance to experience cooperative, problem solving, strategy games in noncompetitive situations. The primary focus of each session of Sports and More will center around team building through movement based activities.

In this class, students will explore the basics of the Latin and Greek languages and ancient civilizations to grow reading, writing, listening, and critical thinking skills. Students will complete several mini-projects to explore the history, culture, and mythology of these civilizations. For former 6th grade students this class will explore beyond the curriculum. For all students, it will provide a fun way to grow their academic language abilities, interest in the ancient world, and learn applicable strategies and skills for classroom use in the fall.

Do you love to write? This workshop model class will give you the opportunity to play with many genres of writing (fiction, memoir, poetry, etc.) and get feedback on your writing from peers. The first week will be focused on quick writing in many genres and the second week will allow students to focus on a specific project culminating in an open mic celebration on the last day of the session.

This program offers anxious students the opportunity to explore the physical lay out of the high school, following a student schedule; meet key support staff available to them during the school year and learn strategies for self advocacy, distress tolerance and study skills to make the transition from the team approach at McCall to the more independent learning approach expected of high school students.
