Welcome to Algebra 1 Honors! I am looking forward to a wonderful year. I realize the impact that I have on all of my students, and I take that very seriously. It is of utmost importance to get my students ready to go to high school and pursue higher mathematics. My goal is to make this math class a safe, enjoyable, and successful place. Algebra 1 Honors is a high school course. Semester averages for high school courses taken during middle school will be reflected on high school transcripts as well as included in the calculation formula for determining a student's high school Grade Point Average (GPA).

The purpose of the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Program is to prepare students for college and/or for AP exams that give students the opportunity to obtain college credit. Honors classes prepare students for AP courses, which are different from regular high school courses in that they are taught with college curricula and college-level materials. Other characteristics of Honors and AP courses include content immersion, a fast pace, and performance assessed at the analysis and synthesis levels. Typically, successful Pre-AP and AP students are task-oriented, proficient readers, writers and thinkers who are able to prioritize their time.
