Cider Mill

Cider Mill's Zero Waste initiative rolled out in January 2018.

When the students came back from the winter break they were greeted by colorful posters, newly designed waste stations and supportive cafeteria supervisors and parent volunteers that helped guide them through the new waste management process. In addition, they will be accepting and holding uneaten food in a refrigerator that will be picked up by the local food pantry or utilized by the after school programs. This initiative is an effort to divert hundreds of pounds of organic materials and recyclable materials from the waste stream. We hope the skills they develop at Cider Mill will build sustainable behaviors that they can then introduce at home, bringing the learning full-circle.
