Clearance Requirements
Clearance Requirements
The following is a list of 6 requirements that need to be complete prior to becoming volunteer coach, assistant coach, or team parent.
Starting July 1, 2015 Pennslyvannia State Laws require all volunteers over the age of 17 must now complete the following clearences before working with children.
1. PA State Police Clearance:

Cost is FREE for volunteers and usually has an instant approval. It has to be renewed every 5 years.
2. PA Child Abuse Clearance:
https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
Cost is FREE for volunteers. It may take up to 14 days for approval. It needs to be renewed every 5 years.
3. FBI Background Check:
- Volunteers that HAVE NOT been a continuous resident of PA for the last 10 years, must complete an FBI background check http://www.keepkidssafe.pa.gov/resources/clearances/fbifinger/index.htm
About 10 days for approval. You will need to register online first and then go get fingerprinted at an approved location. Have to renew every 5 years.
- Volunteers that HAVE been a continuous resident of PA for the last ten years, must swear or affirm in writing that they have no other convictions that would disqualify them: http://www.keepkidssafe.pa.gov/cs/groups/webcontent/documents/document/c_160267.pdf.
All certificates can be downloaded to the GotSpot website. (Go to Dashboard, then Go to Requirments, then to the appropriate certificate tab ) You can also turn in all certificates to the club at a board meeting, or email directly to mepgaudet@gmail.com . If you have already completed any of these for another club, sport or school district, the clearences are portable and they will just need to be downloaded to GotSport or a copy of the certificate can be sent to melpgaudet@gmail.com
4. Concussion Certificate:
This is FREE and takes 30 min to complete online. It needs to be renewed annually according Pennsylvania state law. The training can be directly accessed from the GotSport Website. Go to Dashboard, look under Requirements, then look for Heads Up. Click on more info and launch the course. Please upload certificate to the GotSport website or a copy of the cerificate can be sent to melpgaudet@gmail.com
5. Safe Sport Training
This is FREE and takes 30 mins to complete online. This training can be accessed directly from the GotSport website. Go to Dashboard, look under Requirments then look for Safe Sport. The access code for the Safe Sport Training is on that page and you will need to registar prior to starting. If you have completed this before you will just need to log back in and take a refresher course. This training needs to be renewed annually and will automatically be saved to the GotSport website.
6. 2020-21 EPYSA Coach Risk Management and EPYSA Communicable Disease Agreement:
FREE. Please log in and complete both the EPYSA Risk Management and EPYSA Communicable Disease Agreement. Both are online forms. After logging in....
· go to Forms
· got to Available Forms
· Select Communicable Disease agreement, click start and sign.
· go to Dashboard
· go to Requirements
