Residency Education Licensure Program

Residency Education for Licensure pathway is a model designed to assist residency candidates with meeting residency licensure requirements. 

ECSU offers a few pathways to licensure.

ECSU Residency License Option 

Earn your MAT degree and procure a teaching license. See the links below:

  Students in the MAT program may be eligible for the TEACH Grant which provides up to $4000 per year to qualified students. You must apply for federal financial aid to see if you qualify.

  There are five concentrations/licensure areas in the MAT - Elementary Education, Secondary Math, Secondary English, Secondary Social Studies, and Secondary Comprehensive Science.  Teachers are in high demand and most of our students have jobs before they finish the program.

  You can apply at www.chowan.edu/apply.  Be sure to choose the MAT.  

  You can apply for financial aid, including the TEACH Grant at www.studentaid.gov.  The university code is 002916.
