What is STEM at WCS?

Wilson County Schools strives to prepare our students to be successful and productive STEM-literate individuals. STEM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, is a student-centered instructional approach that encourages creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Students involved in STEM are provided learning opportunities that allow them to apply what they learn from the classroom to an authentic problem. Through STEM, students are working towards discovering and solving a problem in collaborative groups, engaged in inquiry-based thinking and design, testing solutions, and making improvements as needed.

WCS STEM Vision

To create a positive learning environment where students are actively engaged in innovative thinking through authentic and transdisciplinary inquiry-based practices to promote community and global change.
