About Me

Welcome! My name is AJ Gunter. I am in my 4th year of teaching and I am beyond excited about this school year! I am a product of Wilson County Schools graduating from Fike High School and from NC State University with a double major in Biology and Science Education. Before accepting a position at WAAT I have had classroom experience as a substitute teacher for Wilson, Wake, & Carteret County Schools and student taught at Hunt High School. 

This year I teach Earth Science Honors and Biology Honors. I serve on the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Advisory Board as a current NC Teaching Fellow. Additionally I am the STEM Club Advisor and serve as an Education Policy Fellow through NC Public School Forum.

Some of my hobbies include walking/running, sports, traveling, spending time with family, and going to the beach. I am also very passionate about public school education!
