Frequently Asked Questions

  • How did I get a zero (0) on this assignment?
    • A zero (0) earned on any assignment means that you didn't turn the assignment in.

    • When I graded that particular assignment, you you answered ALL of the problems incorrectly and received a score of 0%. I then changed that 0% to a 5%.
  • I received a zero (0) for something that I know I turned in, what happened?
    • More than likely, you forgot to put your name on the assignment before you turned it in. It was then posted on the "Claim Your Work Board" for at least a week before being discarded.
  • I lost my HOT Sheet, what can I do?
    • HOT Sheets can be found on this website under the "Math Curriculum" tab. I WILL NOT provide extra copies. It is your responsibility to complete your HOT Sheet thoroughly and fill in missing spaces/work.
  • Why do we have so many projects in your class?
    • Assessing is the only way that I can gauge whether you understand the material or not. Every unit has a test and a culminating activity (project).
  • Why can't we use the restroom between 2nd and 3rd block?
    • 7th grade lunch starts at the beginning of Block 3. In that time, another grade level is switching classes and another class on the hallway needs to get to lunch immediately. I need you in class to take attendance because we have to leave immediately after that to arrive to lunch on time.
  • Why can't we chew gum in your class?
    • You are not allowed to chew gum in my class because a few of your fellow classmates have left gum on the desks, floors, chairs, etc. It is very unsanitary and a hassle to clean. Therefore, no gum is allowed in my class.
  • Why can't we eat in your class?
    • You cannot eat in my class because a few of your fellow classmates decided to drop crumbs, spill food, and leave food wrappers on the floor or in the desks. Therefore, there will be no eating in my room.
  • Why do we have to take notes in your class?
    • This is a math class. Notes are essential as they are used as reference tools when you are learning a new concept or studying for a test.
