Seniors - Arts Endorsement

NC offers 6 diploma endorsements (Career, College, Academic Scholars, Global Language, Arts Proficiency, Citizenship Proficiency).  The Arts Proficiency endorsement requires arts-related extracurricular activities.  Below are the requirements for students who are seeking the Arts Proficiency endorsement.   

1. The student shall complete a minimum of 4 NCSCOS arts courses.

2. The student shall earn an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher in each arts credit.

3. The student shall complete a minimum of 40 hours of extracurricular arts activities that are on the list approved by the local board of education.

   • All hours must be completed outside of instructional hours and the regular school day.

   • The student shall document the hours on the form provided to local boards of education. (Click above for the fillable template.)

Eligible Activities

• Church Choir

• Community Choir

• Choir Camps & Festivals

• Honors Choirs (NCMEA Honors Choir, Eastern Regional, etc.)

• Governor’s School

• Private Lessons

• Active Involvement in Community Arts Events (i.e. Act for Youth, S2P2 productions, Playhouse productions, etc.)
