2015 - present, Certified Middle Grades Social Studies Teacher
I arrived at Springfield Middle School in January where I currently teach social studies. I am enjoying teaching here and I am very excited to be part of the Wildcat family!
2011 - 2015 History Instructor, Wilson Community College
I served as an adjunct history instructor where I provided effective instruction and acted as lead facilitator in courses for traditional settings in HIS 111 (World Civilizations I), 112 (World Civilizations II), HIS 121 (Western Civilization I), HIS 122 (Western Civilization II), HIS 131 (American History I), 132 (American History II), HIS 211 (Ancient History), HIS 236 (North Carolina History), and early college courses in HIS 112 and 122. I have teaching experience with the Career and College Promise under the supervision of Mr. Wes Hill, Dean of Business/Applied Technologies and Educational Partnerships. I created syllabi outlines, created and graded exams, assigned course materials (i.e. lecture outlines and study guides), and provided assignments and supplementary reading material (different forms of literature, scholarly articles, etc). Historical categories emphasized throughout courses are social, cultural, political, and military history. I incorporated academic research with lectures from scholarly journals such as JSTOR, NCLive, the college's online resources, and other internet sources, carefully document sources, and provide citations to the students to elaborate on important topics. I emphasized primary sources. I included current events to help students understand how history repeats itself and to understand historical topics.
I have also served as an adjunct history instructor at Johnston Community College and Nash Community College.
