Career and College Promise, also known as CCP or Dual Enrollment, is a great way to challenge yourself with a rigorous high school schedule while earning credits toward a certificate or degree program after high school. This is a program that relies on students demonstrating independent initiative and personal responsibility. You must have a minimum unweighted grade point average of 2.8 in order to be eligible to enroll in classes.
As you consider this option, please be aware that students can be dropped by Wilson Community College (WCC) for non-participation / violating the attendance policy. When this happens, the student receives a grade of 55 (F) on his/her Hunt High School transcript. Being dropped from a class can also impact the student's future eligibility for federal financial aid when they decide to attend college in the future (2-year and 4-year levels). Students enrolled in CCP courses are expected to abide by all Wilson Community College policies as well as those for Hunt High School as these students are students at both institutions. Also, Wilson Community College and Wilson County Schools may operate on different schedules, which means you may have work due when we (Hunt High School) are on holiday breaks or teacher workdays. As such, you are still expected to submit all work and keep up with assignments based on the Wilson Community College class schedule for these classes. It is important for you to carefully review the information on this page and that which is included at the link for "CCP INFORMATION & RESOURCES" (accessible from the "CCP" link in the sidebar on the left side of this page) in order to make a well-informed decision about CCP classes.
All requests for CCP classes / enrollments MUST be made during the spring registration period for the following academic year. Completed applications are due by March 31, 2021 for the 2021-2022 academic year. Here is a link to the CCP application that is required for enrollment in CCP courses:https://www.wilsoncc.edu/wp-content/uploads/WCC_CCP-Application-For-Admission-07-2020_Writable.pdf. This is a link to instructions for completing the CCP Application: https://www.wilsoncc.edu/wp-content/uploads/WCC_Instructions-for-CCP-Applications.pdf. You may email your completed application with required signatures and social security number as an attachment to me at amanda.hodges@wilsonschoolsnc.net or print it and drop it off at our front entrance for me. If your completed application (with signatures and social security number) is not received by March 31, 2021, then you will not be enrolled in CCP classes during the 2021-2022 academic year. No changes to add class requests or switch class requests for the 2021-2022 academic year will be made after March 31, 2021. You may ask to drop a CCP class prior to the start of the academic year. However, please do not ask to add CCP classes or change out your CCP class requests after March 31, 2021. This is a firm deadline. The spring registration period (February 22, 2021 - March 22, 2021) is the time when you should make all requests for CCP classes for the 2021-2022 academic year.

PATHWAYS
The following pathways will be offered during the 2021-2022 academic year (groups of related courses that work toward fulfilling a future certificate, diploma, or degree program):
College Transfer
Criminal Justice Technologies
Electrical Systems
Information Technology - Cybersecurity Track
Medical Office Systems Technologies
Welding Technology
College Transfer
If your goal after high school is to earn a 4-year degree, regardless of the major, you should follow the College Transfer Pathway. If you are interested in Pre-Law or Pre-Health (Nursing, Medical, Dental, Physical Therapy, Hospital Administration, anything else related to being a healthcare professional) college tracks, then the College Transfer Pathway is the correct course plan for you. All courses in this pathway, except ACA 122: College Transfer Student Success, carry a 1-point weight on a student's weighted Grade Point Average (GPA). Because ACA 122 is an abbreviated course and is worth less than 3 semester hours of credit at the college level, it is not factored into the high school GPA and does not earn a high school elective credit. However, it is required for completing both the College Transfer Pathway and the Associate in Arts / Associate in Science Degrees. ACA 122 will transfer to a college as an elective credit. For more information on the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's Dual Credit Allowances (courses that will count toward high school graduation and a college degree), please follow this link: https://files.nc.gov/dpi/documents/advancedlearning/ccp-dual-credit-allowances.pdf .
Criminal Justice
If your goal is to enter law enforcement without a 4-year degree, perhaps you want to earn a 2-year Criminal Justice Associate in Applied Science Degree, then Criminal Justice Technologies is the perfect pathway for you. Criminal Justice Technologies IS NOT a Pre-Law track or meant for someone pursuing a 4-year degree in Forensic Science.
Information Technology - Cybersecurity Track
The Information Technology (IT) curriculum prepares graduates for employment in the technology sector as designers, testers, support technicians, system administrators, developers, or programmers who use computer software and\or hardware to design, process, implement and manage information systems in specialties such as database services, security, business intelligence, healthcare informatics and others depending on the technical path selected within this curriculum. Course work includes development of a student’s ability to create, store, communicate, exchange and use information to solve technical issues related to information support and services, interactive media, network systems, programming and software development, information security and other emerging technologies based on the selected area of study. This pathway focuses on the cybersecurity aspect of IT.
Medical Office Systems
If you see a future working in a clinical business setting, maybe with a focus on billing and coding, and will not pursue a 4-year degree, then Medical Office Systems Technologies is the ideal pathway for you. Medical Office Systems Technologies IS NOT a Pre-Health ( (Nursing, Medical, Dental, Physical Therapy, Hospital Administration, etc.) track.
Welding
If you think you may want a career in Welding, the Welding Pathway is a terrific choice as you will get quite a bit of the diploma program from Wilson Community College completed if you complete the Welding Pathway over your 11th and 12th grade years at Hunt High School. Unfortunately, we are restricted to a very limited number of seats (5 each year) for enrollment as a result of having other Welding options at Hunt High School. If this is something in which you're interested, you should complete both Agricultural Mechanics I and Agricultural Mechanics II by the end of your 10th grade year. Priority consideration is given to students who have exhausted their Welding options at Hunt High School prior to requesting the Welding Pathway from Wilson Community College. Also, you will want to keep your high school grades (GPA) up to be in the best position for one of the very limited number of seats available.
Electrical
Students with plans to pursue careers in Electrical work should consider enrolling in the Electrical Pathway. Like Welding, there are a very limited number of seats (5 each year) available in this program. So, be sure to keep your high school grades (GPA) up so that you position yourself to be a top pick.
Important Information and Resources
Please check out the documents included within the "CCP Information and Resources" link, accessible from the "CCP" link in the sidebar on the left side of this page for more details on general CCP information and CCP options available to you at Hunt High School. Students who are enrolled in CCP classes at Hunt High School are supported by both the high school and our community college partner - Wilson Community College. Through Google Classroom postings and weekly Google Morning Meet-Ups (through Google Meet) with me and collaboration from Mrs. Holsten, our liaison from Wilson Community College, students are provided updates and guidance related to their Wilson Community College experience. Of course, given the nature of online courses, students will have to be self-motivated and independent workers in order to be successful.
We are fortunate to have Wilson Community College as our local partner institution of Higher Education providing these opportunities for our students. There are minimum requirements, set by the North Carolina Community College System, students must meet before being able to take advantage of this opportunity. They include having an unweighted GPA of 2.8 or higher at the time of enrollment or by obtaining certain benchmark test scores on any of the following: SAT, P-SAT, Pre-ACT, ACT. Due to a very limited number of seats in Electrical and Welding (5 seats available in each), preference is given to students who have completed Agricultural Mechanics I and II for enrolling in the Welding Pathway. Please, take a look at the postings on this page (accessible from the link for CCP Information & Resources) to help you decide if this is the right fit for you!
If you decide to take CCP courses and meet the minimum requirements for enrollment in them, then you must make all requests for them during the registration period (usually held in late February through mid-March). In order to request them, list your preferred CCP course or courses on the Registration Request form that you will receive to take home and discuss options with your parents before meeting with a counselor. CCP courses are not used as alternate courses or space fillers. Do not list them as alternative requests. These are courses that should be among your priority requests. You MUST also complete the CCP Application and submit it by March 31st with all required signatures.
If you are interested in trying to complete a college-transferable Associate in Arts Degree at the end of your senior year, please schedule a phone appointment with me as soon as you know this is a goal of yours. One thing to note for those who want to try to go beyond the College Transfer Pathway and complete the Associate in Arts Degree, you will want to have completed two levels of high school foreign language and Math 3 by the end of your 10th grade year.
My calendar with available appointment times is posted below. When you schedule your meeting with me, please include details about what you would like to discuss and the phone number at which I may call you at the scheduled time. If you receive a call at a scheduled time that is listed as private or a number you don't recognize, please answer. That means I'm working remotely and using my remote number. In order to accomplish this goal of completing an Associate in Arts Degree at the same time you graduate high school, you must be a highly motivated and focused student. Advanced planning, prior to your 11th grade year, is ideal in order to ensure that you enroll in the appropriate coursework.
As I mentioned earlier, take a look at the resources and explanations posted in "CCP Information and Resources," accessible from the CCP link on the left sidebar of this page "CCP Information and Resources" . Also, anyone who would like to discuss CCP options are welcome to schedule a phone appointment with me using the calendar below. Look for "Available Phone Meeting" as the block of time open where you can schedule to meet with me. Please include your name, purpose of the meeting, and best number at which you may be reached.
Have a great day, Log in, and Stay Charged!
