Ruth Jones- SENCo
Change in itself is always challenging for everyone. The transition from primary to secondary is a milestone in a child's education and is a huge step and it is normal to be nervous . Some young people will find this time even more difficult, especially those who have need of additional support with their learning.
The SEND team at Leigh Academy Wilmington is led by our SENCo Ruth Jones. Together, with her team, there is a vast experience of working with students who may need additional support during this time. Please find attached a link to our SEND statement which details the additional provision that can be provided in school.
We also have the added bonus of a Wellbeing Manager, Sarah West.
The SENCo and the SRP Coordinator will be meeting with primary schools to discuss students whom they have identified as being more vulnerable during the transition to secondary and may require additional support.
If your child has an EHCP or has had the Specialist Resourced Provision named on their EHCP, we have already been notified of these children and will be in touch during the summer term to find out more about their requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding Learning Support during transition, please contact the SEND Department sendadmin@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk
We look forward to welcoming your child to Leigh Academy Wilmington and making a successful start to their secondary journey.
