The American Writer's Museum in the heart of downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue, highlights writers and writing. Of interest to D39 students will be the virtual exhibits featuring Tools of the Trade and the Children's Literature Gallery.

Art Institute of Chicago

While physically closed, The Art Institute of Chicago is open for virtual visits! Take some time to explore the collections, including the always popular impressionist artists and the Thorne Miniature Rooms. Get close up to a mummy's mask, a Viking sword, and more with the museum's Interactive Features.

Chicago Children's Theatre

Interested in getting out and about? Explore Chicago neighborhoods with different local theater artists from the Chicago Children's Theatre as your guide. Currently Walkie Talkies, self-guided walking tours, are available of South Shore, Little Village, and around the North Pond Nature Sanctuary in Lincoln Park.

The Field Museum

Home to Sue and other dinosaurs, the Field Museum is one of Chicago's favorite tourist attractions. Currently closed for in-person visits, the museum features a Learning at Home program to satisfy the curiosity of those on a staycation.

Museum of Science and Industry

Another favorite of visitors and Chicagoans alike, the Museum of Science and Industry in Hype Park is closed for in person visits, but open for Science at Home activities.

The Nature Museum

The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park features a series of videos titled Curious by Nature exploring the wonders of nature in the Chicago area.
