DATES: Try to focus ONLY on the Indus Valley Civilization, the Mauryan Period, or the Gupta Period in your research. All were important developmental periods in Ancient India. Anything after those is no longer considered "ancient." Here is a TIMELINE from the Ancient History Encyclopedia to help.
LOCATION: The Indus Valley Civilization, and much of India, was located in an area that shares land with modern-day Pakistan. Don't get confused or skip past great information if the text mentions Pakistan - it still applies! Country borders have changed a LOT over time.
