Core ELA Sequence

Our District ELA Program:

• is based on the NYS learning standards and aligned to the NYSED Literacy Briefs and the science of reading research

• is aligned to the WCSD Strategic Plan and the WCSD DEI Plan 

• values the unique learning styles and skills of all our learners from our entering Kindergartners through our graduating seniors

• is a comprehensive program with many supports to ensure that all students can be successful

• is focused on continued development and achievement of strong reading, writing, listening, speaking, and language skills 

• ensures that students continually grow as readers and writers through choice, increasingly complex texts, engagement, and enjoyment
