If a 5th grade student wants to read a Young Adult title, a parent or guardian must send a WITSmail to Ms. Gorski stating that they understand the book is a Young Adult title and are comfortable with their child reading it.
This consent process may also be used for 7th- or 8th-grade students requesting books from the high school library collection that are intended for older audiences.
Example WITSmail:
Hello Ms. Gorski,
I am giving permission for (child's name) to read ([book title]).
I understand that this is a Young Adult book and may include language, romance, or violence intended for a young adult audience. I am comfortable with my child reading this material.
Thank you.
