About Me
Hello!
My name is Rachel Klein, and I'm excited to be the Extended Learning Program (ELP) coordinator for Williamsburg School District! A little bit about me: I grew up in New Hampton, Iowa where I was involved with cheerleading, choir, band, flags, and show choir. After graduation I attended Kirkwood Community College and got my sign language interpretation certificate. I then spent some time interpreting and training interpreters in Cameroon, Africa. While working with these students at a Deaf school, I realized my passion was teaching, and I returned to attend the University of Iowa. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's in Education in 2010, with certificates in Reading and Language Arts. I then began working for Willowwind School in Iowa City as a Montessori Preschool teacher, after earning my certificate in 2013. In 2013, I also earned my Talented and Gifted endorsement. In 2017, I received my Masters degree in Special Education (Gifted Education) from the University of Missouri. I really love working with this wonderful group of kids, and have been so grateful for the welcome that I have received from the Williamsburg staff and community.
My husband and I live in Coralville, where he a web developer. We have an 8 year old son, Ender, who I love hanging out with. In my spare time I enjoy anything outside, hiking, exercise, writing, reading, and travel. In the summer I teach College 4 Kids at Coe College.
