This week I had the pleasure of visiting our CIS teachers' classrooms, and they are the recipients of my shout out of the week. Hooray!
Both Yuki and Xiangchen are masters of classroom management. I strongly recommend anyone who wants to refresh their skillset on controlling loud, energetic groups visit their classrooms to see how they do it. Xiangchen handled her new 6th grade class with a serious delivery that made it known, firmly and fairly, that her students were in Secondary School now, and there were certain expectations. Yuki greeted her 7th graders a little more loosely, managsding several rambunctious boys with humor, giving them just enough fun, firm and fair attention to let them know they were appreciated, before swinging right back into addressing the whole class.
Observe how skillfully Yuki moves around the classroom, alternately bringing attention to herself and the screen; then moving up and down the rows, involving all the students, including some active boys in the back--all without raising her voice:
I was happy to see how talented our CIS teachers are in person. It inspired me to get into more classrooms as quickly as possible to see what everyone else's talents are.
Congratulations, everyone, on wrapping up week one!
