A Message from Mrs Sargent:

Principal Appointment

As you know, since Mrs C was promoted to be our Executive Principal back in February, I have been Acting Associate Principal for our school. The recruitment process for a permanent Principal has now been completed and I would like to let you know that I have been successful in my application. I therefore became our permanent Principal at the start of this half term. I would like to thank everyone for your fantastic support during this interim period and say how much I’m looking forward to working closely with you to ensure your children get the best possible learning experiences and outcomes. I’m incredibly proud to be heading up the fantastic WBJ team and extremely excited about how far we can take the academy moving forward. As always please don’t hesitate to come and see me if you have any concerns (or good news too!).

Thank you

Sarah Sargent

Maths Week England 8th-11th November

This week was maths week England and to mark the occasion we participated in a national competition on Timestables Rockstars. The children have been tasked with answering as many correct answers as possible to be in with the chance of winning Amazon vouchers for the academy! We also held our own Barcroft competition with the classes in years 3 and 4 and years 5 and 6 going head to head to win a prize from Mr Ferrier for the most correct answers during this week. We love the competition here at William Barcroft and the children have really enjoyed taking part. The winners will be revealed next week!!

Pastoral/Safeguarding

  • At William Barcroft Junior School we are having a huge focus on school uniform. Please ensure your child/ren are wearing the correct uniform as per our school policy. Children in year 6 MUST attend school in white polo t-shirts with our school purple jumpers/cardigans.

  • Please ensure bright coloured dye is not being used on childrens hair during term time. Thank you.

  • Please support us in school with ensuring your children are able to take their own earrings out on year group PE days or bring in plasters from home to cover them.

  • Full size chocolate bars or loose chocolates/sweets should NOT be put into children's packed lunches.

  • Please be aware that staff are available to supervise your children from 8.30am on the playground, but not before. If possible please wait with your children before school, our doors open at 8.40am. This will support us to minimise the number of concerns, which are caused by children being left without a parent/carer on the playground.

  • In school the children have received a 'NSPCC Pants' lesson during PSHCE with Mrs Regan this week. Please follow the link if you would like to discuss the song/content with your children,

  • Compass Go wellbeing service work alongside the team in school to support our pupils with their mental health and wellbeing. WBJS and Compass Go are committed to supporting the whole school community, and would like to collect the views of parents/carers to see how we can support you further.
