We would like to thank all of our pupils and their families for all of their support with todays charitable day.

We will let you know how much we have raised as soon as possible!

Diwali Day

Last Thursday, we celebrated all things Hinduism and Diwali! We were met in the hall by Mrs Singh who taught us all about where Hinduism originated and we learnt about some of the key elements and symbols. Later on, we went in the hall for some traditional Indian dancing and music and everyone looked fantastic dressed in saris and churidars! We also got to sample so traditional foods including lentil curries, naan bread and yoghurt dip. In the afternoon, we got to experience henna tattoos and everyone got to choose their designs. In class, we read the story of Rama and Sita and got to act out the key events. We created Rangoli patterns, lanterns and designed our own henna. We learnt so much about Hinduism and there was a real buzz about the school!

Please check out our schools Twitter pages for more details and photo of the day @WBJJuniorSchool

Sword in the Stone

For our annual reading theme week, the children enjoyed a fantastic performance from The Image Musical Theatre Company with their rendition of 'Sword in the Stone'. The children were even able to take part as actors and actresses including an enthusiastic sing-a-long! There were many fabulous activities that followed including writing a speech as the newly appointed King Arthur, sketching and creating an atmosphere from The Sword in the Stone and poetry writing including an acrostic poem.

This half term, the children have started a new book in their English sessions. There is a real buzz around school and the children are absolutely loving reading these new books! Please look on Twitter for all of the amazing work and writing projects inspired by these books. We've had some fabulous responses from the authors themselves! How exciting! Ask your expert about their new year group book!

We are proud to announce that we have achieved Green status on the STARS accreditation scheme. STARS stands for: Sustainable Travel: Active, Responsible, Safe. We are extremely proud to say that we are only the 5th school in our area to gain STARS accreditation.

Why STARS?

The average journey to school is less than one kilometre, that's around a 10-minute walk. However, many of these journeys are made by car leading to congestion and an unsafe and polluted environment for us all. By swapping car journeys for active travel, together STARS schools can make a real difference to our community.
