Technology Privacy Notice
Issued in compliance with Ohio Senate Bill 29 and Ohio Revised Code §§ 3319.325–3319.327
This notice is provided as required by Ohio Senate Bill 29, passed by the Ohio General Assembly in June 2024 and effective October 24, 2024. It serves as the District’s annual technology privacy disclosure.
The District, either directly or through an authorized technology provider, may generally monitor all school-issued devices (as defined in R.C. 3319.325). Monitoring may include:
Location tracking
Student interactions such as keystrokes and web-browsing activity
Monitoring is conducted strictly for noncommercial educational purposes, such as:
Instruction
Technical support
Exam proctoring by school district employees, student teachers, contracted staff, vendors, or the Department of Education
Beyond general monitoring, the District may also access device features under the following circumstances:
When permitted by a judicial warrant
When a device is reported missing or stolen
When necessary to prevent or respond to a threat to life or safety
When required to comply with federal or state law or to participate in related funding programs
If such access occurs, the District will provide written notice within 72 hours. The notice will specify:
Which device was accessed
Which features were used
For clarity, “features” include those defined in § 3319.327(A):
Location tracking
Audio or visual receiving, transmitting, or recording
Keylogging
Web activity monitoring
