04.19.22

12:00 PM @ Eaton 209

Sexual Citizens reveals the social ecosystem that makes sexual assault a predictable element of life on a college campus. The concepts of sexual projects, sexual citizenship, and sexual geographies provide a new language for understanding the forces that shape young people’s sexual relationships. The result transforms our understanding of sexual assault and provides a new roadmap for how to address it. Explore the concepts in Sexual Citizens with Director and Advocate, Andrea Hugmeyer.

DENIM DAY

04.27.22

Wear jeans with a purpose, support survivors, and educate yourself about sexual assault.

The Denim Day campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it.

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT

04.28.22

The purpose of Take Back the Night is to cultivate a safe space for survivors to speak out about their experiences and empower others to raise their voices to condemn sexual violence. Our keynote speaker, Erin Waters, will be offering wisdom on how the movement against sexual violence is connected to ending other injustices like transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and racism.

Please note that this event is for survivors and their support networks. We encourage everyone to join us, but ask that attendees be aware that this space is specifically designed to center the needs of survivors and their supporters.

INPLEASURE WORKSHOP

04.30.22

“Inpleasure Workshop" led by holistic, trauma-informed sex and pleasure educator, activist and dancer Che Che Luna. Che Che Luna is queer, trans, polyamorous and Latinx, and aims to bridge the gaps in pleasure accessibility so that marginalized and historically oppressed folks can (re)build consensual, sovereign and affirming relationships with Self and others. With all the chronic stress within and around us, dance is a way to unwind, play, discover and land back into our sensuality as gender-diverse folx of all races, abilities, and sexual orientations.

Please note that this event requires registration. Seats are limited.
