Resistance - Paloma Talaro
I'm imagining a future ruled by AI and corporate oligarchs. In this world, an underground press called The Defect rebels through design. Positioned as a beacon of human resistance, it rejects the AI-dominated order by fostering human-to-human connections and reclaiming authorship from machines.
This toolkit employs glitch aesthetics, cryptic typography, and neo-punk visual language. Each artifact acts as coded journalism, circulating anti-fascist messages and reasserting design as an act of defiance. Rather than predicting the future, this project envisions one worth fighting for: a world where analog rebellion and empathy outlast technology.
This speculative framework treats design not as tyranny, but decorating as dissent—a medium for transmitting. The Defect proposes a future where the human spirit finds expression in resistance, imperfection, and collective creation.
Using the trends that occur today, we can infer possible scenarios that might exist in the future. The signals gathered for this toolkit involve ideas of irony and speculative thinking. Much of the content we see being pushed around today involves fast-form media, so I wanted to translate that into a contemporary newspaper.
