Egyptians believe that the mummification process was important because they wanted to get to to the Afterlife intact. The first way Egyptians preserved the body was to bury it in the sand. Unfortunately Animals would dig up the body and the body would be eaten or would be decay. the Egyptian's changed the mummification process by mummifying the body . firstly to take the body to the beautiful house slowly wash the body with water from the river Nile and some palm wine
Secondly make an incision on the left hand side of the body. Delicately remove the organs (lung liver and stomach) now get a long sharp hook and insert it through the nostrils push in the big brain and whisk it like a strawberry mixer and pull it out i the small nostrils
Then get a jar of crystal white natron (salt) and fill the body with natron and leave to dry for 50 days
After that we have to rewash the body again to remove the natron . spray some pretty perfume with lots of little spices to make the body smell beautiful
finally wrap the body with linen strips every where remember to use mummia. use an amulet and the book of the dad between the mummy to protect the body on its journey to the Afterlife
Ancient Egyptians believed that when someone dies they will be sent to the Afterlife safely but not everyone got to the Afterlife.
It was a dangerous and scary journey. Find out why the book of the dead was so important and why your heart had been weighed.
How to get to the Afterlife:
First a tomb will be prepared by a priest. In it is placed the dead person's belongings like Shabti dolls, food and water. The priest will make a performance called opening of the mouth ceremony.
To get to the afterlife the body must tell 42 mummified Gods that the body has not committed any sins. The heart must go to be weighed by Amit. If the heart is heavier than Ma'at's feather the body will be devoured by Ammit if the heart is lighter the spirit will go to the Afterlife.
Now the spirit will go to the field of reads to look after the field and grow crops. The spirit will have servants what is shabti dolls the shabti dolls help grow the crops and help look after the felids.
Gods and Godesses were important to the egyptians because they had all sorts of jobs. People used to worship to them to get help and advice about their life.
