Classroom Volunteers (K - 2)

Classroom Volunteers assist with a range of projects and activities, typically in a two-hour shift. Sign up as often as you like.

● Review reading and academics with individual students and small groups

● Prepare materials for the classroom

● Assist with special events, projects, and/or field trips

● Sign up with your student's teacher, at Back-to-School Night or throughout the year by contacting your designated Room Parent.

Room Parent Volunteers

Each year two or three parents from each classroom volunteer to coordinate class specific volunteer opportunities. Be sure you are registered with Membership Toolkit so that room parents can communicate important updates about your student's class.

● Assist with or donate items for class parties

● Bring food for parent/teacher conferences

● Help with teacher appreciation week activities

● Help with special activities

Bike / Walk to School Coordinator

Each year Wilder Promotes a Bike / Walk to School Day. The coordinator assists the Communications Committee and procures snack donations for the participants.

Grade-level Volunteering

Volunteer requests are sent via email throughout the year to assist with your student's grade-level "specials" classes - P.E., Music, Art, Library, and SmartLab.

● Mount artwork for displays

On-call Volunteering

Volunteer requests are sent via email throughout the year to assist with various events or projects. This volunteer opportunity allows you to share your talents only if and when you have time. Reach out to vips@wilderelempto.org to learn more.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a global educational nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders and creative problem solvers. The "DI" Volunteers work with the Gifted + Talented teacher to promote program to parents and students.

● Organize and assemble teams that will compete in the program

● Coordinate with DI on behalf of teams

Direct Giving

The Wilder PTO donates an average of $300 per student each year to support additional needs and resources not funded by the district. That investment is exclusively funded through donations and the Direct Giving team coordinates those annual fundraising efforts.

Bulletin Board Volunteers

Calling all creatives - this volunteer position helps design and assemble the PTO bulletin boards located in the main hallway of the school. These boards are updated monthly/seasonally in accordance with school events.

Holiday Gift Bags

Wilder Elementary partners with East Elementary each year to provide holiday gift bags to their underprivileged students.

● In May of preceding year reserve conference room in office for period of Thanksgiving through December 15th

● Contact East Elementary and Wilder office to see how many families are in need

● Send program information and signup sheet to Wilder Community last week in October

● Retrieve and log all responses to the drive

● Matchup families identified and volunteer donors

LPS Foundation Liaison

● Keep PTO and Wilder community aware of LPS Foundation events

● Represent Wilder at the Stride, the LPS Foundations biggest event, the last weekend in October

● Promote five LPS community nights at sporting events including Rapids (Sept.), Avalanche (Nov), Nuggets (Jan), Mammoth (Mar) and Rapids (May) with Wilder Community

Wilder Creates

Each fall students create unique art work which are turned into gifts and keepsakes. Once art work has been completed, volunteers assist the Art Teacher in the classroom transferring the to the vendor for production.

Joint Scholarship Liaison

Littleton Public Schools Foundation is the fundraising partner for Littleton Public Schools whose Mission is to raise funds to support each LPS student's unique path to success. The LPSF / PTO Joint Scholarship Liaison:

  • Meets with the committee members from other LPS schools each November to review meeting minutes from the previous school year's final meeting, reviews guidelines and the timeline for the current year.

  • Attends the December PTO meeting and shares information about the scholarship with the Wilder staff

  • Collaborates with the Communications Committee, Tech Chair and Teacher Representative to distribute forms and make information to teachers, staff and families.

Hospitality Volunteers

The Hospitality Committee coordinates baked items, beverages, paper goods, and/or financial contributions that help us show the amazing Wilder staff how much they are appreciated.

Library Volunteers

This volunteer opportunity is ideal for parents who enjoy working in the library at their own pace. Training is provided and takes place at the beginning of each school year. Volunteers assist the Librarian with:

  • Preview + process new books for the Wilder library

  • Stamp + label new books with call numbers and bar codes

  • Enter info into Wilder’s online computer catalog

  • Cover books when necessary

  • heck books in and out

  • Re-shelve books, assist students in locating materials, assist the librarian

Lost + Found Committee

The volume of lost items each year is staggering and this committee is dedicated to returning items to their original owners. We need 20-25 volunteers for this committee to:

  • Sort through the Lost + Found each month

  • Return labeled items to their owners

  • Post a monthly reminder to check the Lost + Found for items not labeled

Paws Store

The Paws Store is a monthly pop-up shop where students can cash in the "Paws" they have earned for treats, prizes and more! 🐾

Book Fair Volunteers

Wilder Elementary hosts a Book Fair in October and May each year and funds raised go to buy more books for the Wilder library. Book Fair volunteers will:

● Assist students with finding books

● Help students make wish lists and purchase books

● Setup, restock books and cleanup the library if needed

Room Parents

Each year a Room Parent Coordinator helps to organize 2-3 volunteers to serve as Room Parents for each classroom.

You must be signed up with Membership Toolkit to receive information on how to sign-up as a Room Parent.

Room Parents:

● Plan Halloween + Valentine's Day Class Parties

● Organize parents to bring food for teachers during conferences

● Help coordinate Teacher Appreciation activities

● Assist teachers with year-end class picnic and other class activities as needed

School Supply Volunteers

Wilder Elementary partners with Educational Products Inc. to make back-to-school supply shopping easy! Volunteers will:

● Manage the contract with the school supply vendor

● Assist Wilder families with the order process

● Ensure that the final order is placed with the vendor

● Confirm the date of delivery of school supplies

● Coordinate supply distribution before each new school year

Silent Auction Committee

The Wilder PTO hosts an annual silent auction that benefits the school. It is the PTO's largest fundraising event of the year. This committee plans and executes the auction as well as:

  • Donations/Sponsorships

  • Class Art Projects

  • Class Baskets

  • Setup / Decorations

  • Checkout

Stride Captain

The Stride is an exceptional event that focuses on bringing together Littleton Public Schools and the local community to focus on health + wellness as well as encourage school spirit and offers a one-of-a kind, incredibly fun and unique experience for all ages! The main objective of this event is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for families and our community as well as build partnerships and increase financial support for Littleton Public Schools.

Wellness Committee

In charge of promoting wellness at Wilder, the Wellness Committee works with a district appointed coordinator to to promote wellness and share information with students, parents, and staff.

Garden Committee

The Garden Committee assists with with planting, nurturing, weeding, and harvesting - no green thumb required.

Totally Terrific Teacher Committee

The generosity of our teachers is one of the most amazing parts of Wilder Elementary. Each year our teachers donate their time for a special school drawing. The committee works with the PTO President to select a week to spotlight our Totally Terrific Teachers and engage families in this special fundraiser. The committee is responsible for:

● Teacher participation outreach

● Working with teachers to determine what they would like to award to winners

● Engaging families using sign-up sheets and digital media

Yearbook Committee

The Yearbook Committee is responsible for the creation and production of the annual Wilder Elementary Yearbook. This committee needs 3-5 volunteers who can manage vendor contracts, be creative and identify areas of interest and expertise and pick a theme for the yearbook. General responsibilities include:

● General Photography

● Collaboration with Room Parents for photo sharing

● Share class pages with teachers for review and missing kids

● Ensure photos are taken of students who are not photographed by vendor and uploaded to yearbook

Picture Day Volunteers

Picture Day volunteers escort students to and from class and help with last minute grooming for individual photos, individual photo retakes, and class photos.

Vision + Hearing Volunteers

Each Fall Wilder conducts vision and hearing screenings for all students. These screenings take place over several days and volunteers accompany students to and from their classrooms. This is a half-day commitment (either morning or afternoon) with several days to choose from.

Wilder Accountability Committee "WAC"

The Wilder Accountability Committee (WAC) is made up of parents, staff, and community members as provided for under Board of Education Policy ABA Decision Making. Members serve as an advisory committee to the principal. The committee reviews and discusses building issues, programs and activities. WAC meets once a month on Monday evenings at 6:30pm in the CLC. Meeting minutes are posted on the Wilder website. All Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School parents and community members are welcome at WAC meetings.
