Literary Socratic Seminar Questions and Answers

Literary Circle Steps:

  1. Research the choices and select the one that interests you the most. Be sure to read the synopsis, the reviews, and about the author.

  2. Put your name down next to the one that interests you the most.

  3. Individually or alone, plan out a reading schedule of which all members have to follow. Use the due dates to guide you.

  4. Design Socratic Seminar (after each completed chapters) questions using the table provided on Classroom.

  5. Once the novel is complete, you must design an assessment for students to take after reading the novel and rubric for your design to be used by me.

    • This assessment can be any kind you would like to explore except the Socratic Seminar.

    • You will get classes to research what evaluations are most beneficial to the student and to plan it out.

    • You will get classes to research rubric building. I will review this with you and provide a template. The rubric will be used by me while you present your project.

    • The entire process and insight shown into the novel will be evaluated by me using the rubric provided by you. For instance, if you do a Quizlet, the collaboration, the questions asked, the answers provided, and the presentation of it will be reviewed by me using your rubric. If you do a Gameboard, you will need to create it in full and then I will use the rubric you designed to assess your collaboration and product.

    • Each assessment will be based on insight shown into the novel.

    • The Socratic Seminar questions, the rubric design or assessment design, the presentation, and a reflection on the entire process will be a separate mark. Rubric.

  6. Prepare an overview for the class in a slide presentation. We will meet as teams to present the full assignment as to not ruin the novel for others.
