As part of our careers initiative, the whole school took part in an assembly to celebrate careers in Art and Design. Children listened to Mrs Bonnington's Art journey as well as hearing from local artist Jamie Wilkinson.
In addition, our very own secondary Art teacher Heather King sent us a video message telling us all about her role within our Trust. Children showed such enthusiasm, we can guarantee we have lots of budding Artists and Designers at Brinsworth Whitehill Primary.
As part of our culture enrichment, children in Year 6 visited Gainsborough School to watch their Christmas Show 'Matilda'. This gave children the opportunity to envisage what opportunities they will have upon entering secondary school and also gave them an insight into drama as a possible careers opportunity in the future. We were able to discuss and compare the Pantomime with the book that we have read previously in school. Children had a fantastic time and are eager to be involved in future pantomimes when they reach secondary school.
The children in the Foundation Stage have been learning all about the celebration of Christingle. We went on a trip to St Mary’s Church in Catcliffe for our Christingle service, where the children proudly showed off the Christingles they had made. Parents and carers were invited to join the children in this special service.
The children in EYFS are very excited for Christmas. As part of their preparations, they wrote letters to Father Christmas and then enjoyed a walk to the local post box to post them, following a map of the local area.
Plus, as a reward for all their hard work this term, Y5/6 went to Arc Cinema in Rotherham to watch Home Alone. A special thank you goes to Mrs Wildgoose and the Friends of Whitehill for subsidising this enrichment visit!
As part of our Christmas countdown, Foundation Stage 2 to Y4 all enjoyed a magical Christmas production from "Dip and Dab".
Our journey across the Arctic to find Tinsel Tally was full of singing, dancing, games and lots of festive cheer. With the support of our Orchard staff, all children had the opportunity to enjoy and participate in the show. The children loved the experience!
During Autumn 2, Year 5/6 were visited by the Yorkshire Water team, who delivered an absolutely fantastic workshop around water useage at home.
As part of the project, children build lego robots and then that to programme these to remove waste/rubbish from blocked drains in the home. They were also tasked with programming the robots to dispose of different types of household waste including oils, food and paper.
The children had a fantastic time and were desperate for the workshop to continue!
Children in the Foundation Stage have been learning all about the importance of brushing their teeth and what can happen if we do not brush them regularly. They explored which foods are good for their teeth and which can be harmful. The children then wrote instructions explaining how to brush their teeth and followed these instructions, brushing their teeth for two minutes.
