As we reach the end of a vibrant and joyful summer term, we wanted to take a moment to share and celebrate some of the fantastic learning and experiences your children have been part of.
This term, we’ve continued our mission of removing barriers and broadening horizons, making sure every child has access to rich, meaningful experiences that help them grow in confidence, knowledge, and independence.

In Literacy this term, one of our favourite books was the hilarious and action-packed Supertato! The children loved the story and its cheeky characters. Inspired by the book, we had great fun designing and creating our own superhero vegetables—complete with capes, masks, and unique powers!
We used Widgit symbols and Colourful Semantics to help us build super sentences, supporting all learners to access the writing process with confidence. The children worked really hard to write some fantastic descriptions of their very own superhero vegetables, showing brilliant imagination and growing independence in their writing.
A real highlight of our learning journey has been exploring the life cycle of butterflies.
The children have loved observing our caterpillars grow day by day—full of curiosity and wonder! We’ve talked about change, growth, and patience, and the children have shown real care in looking after our wriggly friends.
The children helped feed them with sugar water, and then we released them into our Orchard garden.
Another special part of our term has been spending time with the rabbits in The Orchard. The children have loved learning how to care for them—feeding, grooming, and most importantly, being kind and gentle.
These sessions have helped develop a sense of calm, empathy, and responsibility. Rabbit therapy has not only supported emotional wellbeing but also strengthened our connections with nature and living things.
Our KS1 trip to Cleethorpes was a big adventure and one of the most exciting days of the term!
The children loved playing in the sand, building sandcastles, and, of course, enjoying a delicious ice cream.
It was a very busy and tiring day, full of laughter and exploration. A real highlight was seeing the children take responsibility for their own money and proudly buy their own ice cream with a little support from the grownups.
It was a wonderful opportunity to develop independence and real-life skills in a fun and memorable way.
We’ve been very busy baking and cooking this half term!
One of our favourite things to make was pitta pizzas. The children carefully followed the recipe with the help of a grown-up, selecting their own toppings and assembling their creations with great focus. They especially enjoyed the best part - eating them once they were ready!
These sessions have supported independence, confidence in the kitchen, and important real-life skills like following instructions and working together.
In KS1, this term, we’ve been channelling our inner artists by exploring vibrant and expressive art from Brazil. The children were fascinated by the colourful patterns and bold shapes often found in Brazilian art and used these as inspiration for their own creations.
After carefully studying the style, the children planned and sketched their own tile designs, paying close attention to shape, colour, and pattern. They then practised printmaking techniques, working with care and focus to create repeating patterns that reflected their original designs.
It was a brilliant opportunity to explore creativity, develop fine motor skills, and experience the process of designing, making, and evaluating.
