Hello, everyone!
It has been yet another busy term at Sandhill but there has been plenty to do in the world of SEND:
Reviewed and updated the SEND register
Carried out staff CPD including SEN plan writing
Continued to support children with outside agencies to ensure that we are delivering the right support they require
Worked with With Me in Mind to promote talking about feelings
Encouraged kindness and celebrating differences throughout the school
Meetings with SENDIASS to support parents

On Thursday 14th November we celebrated Odd Socks Day where children and staff were encouraged to wear odd socks to school. There was a whole school assembly as well as individual class presentations where children were encouraged to celebrate their differences.
With Me in Mind
With Me in Mind is the name of one of the national Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) and there are teams based in both Doncaster and Rotherham.
We recently had the With Me in Mind team into school, and they ran a session with our Year 2 children. In the session they created Colour Monsters which helped the children to open up and discuss their feelings.
Winter Party 🥳❄
We hosted our annual Winter Party this term, which was enjoyed by the entire school! Children dressed up in their best outfits or fancy dress for the occassion.
To ensure that everyone could enjoy the party at their own pace, we created a quiet space set aside for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the main hall allowing them to enjoy winter themed activities.
The SEND team have worked really hard to develop the support required for key children in school and have been successful in gaining 6 further EHCPs which has allowed these children to receive the level of support that they require to be successful in our school and other settings.
As a school we have completely reviewed the placing of Teaching Assistants to ensure that our SEND children are supported in the most effective way. This has included using staff skills to put in additional SEND and SEMH interventions. As a school we can see the positive effect this is having on our children.
Staff have had further training on the writing of SEND plans focusing on using SMART targets in order to set precise targets for our SEND pupils.
Here are some links and resources to help support children with SEND/SEMH.
