Hello!
My name is Mrs Smith and I am the Class 16 teacher, Assistant Head and SENDCO.
My name is Mrs Tunnard, Class 12 teacher and SENDCO.
What is a SENDCO?
We are responsible for the operation of the SEND Policy and coordination of specific provisions made to support individual children with SEND. The staff team at Monkwood Primary work hard to monitor students’ progressand where it is felt that a child may need additional support, interventions are planned and put in place. As members of the SENDCO team, we also liaise with external agencies in order to create a team behind the child.
If you have any questions - please do not hestitate to contact us through the school office.

The With Me in Mind team have been in school supporting and working alongisde staff to strengthen the provision for the children in our care.
This half term, we have worked closely on implementing a range of workshops within school. We hosted an anxiety in school workshop and next half term we have some classroom based workshops focusing on friendships and anxiety and worries.
Two pupils from Year 6 have been chosen as With Me in Mind Ambassadors and will deliver a range of different activities and events in the new year.
We have been working with our Alternative Provisions within Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT).
This term a few of our Monkwood children have started at Woodland View.
This provision is an Early Years setting based on the woodland grounds of our school. Woodland View provides a bespoke learning environment for our younger children. We are happy to say our children have settled really well and are thriving.
Thank you to all the staff Woodland View for all you have done over this last term.
Staff across school have been working hard on adaptive practices to ensure that we create an inclusive classroom and the right provision is in place for all children to succeed.
We look forward to welcoming you in the classrooms in the Spring term to see what learning has been taking place.
Please put the following dates in your diary for events in the Spring Term.
Coffee & Catch Up - Thursday 13th February 2025 - 2pm onwards
SEND Craft Afternoon - Wednesday 12th March 2025 - 3.30pm onwards
Children's Mental Health Week will take place in February. We will work closely with our school ambassadors to plan a range of activities and events which will raise the profile of mental health and the opportunity to talk to others.
