The Magna Lane Centre is a Primary SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) Resource which provides a broad, balanced and bespoke curriculum, in line with Wickersley Partnership Trust Curriculum Intent.
Our very clear expectation is to achieve better outcomes for all our children and young people. We firmly believe that we should never do less for other children than we would do for our own.

Some of the children have been preparing for adulthood this term. They have ordered their own bus passes and taken a trip on the bus to Clifton Park.
Each pupil looked after their own money and belongings and demonstrated many of the Magna Lane Ways whilst out in the community. They even had chance to grab a tesco meal deal and use the self scans!
All of the children at Magna Lane have been looking at Human Development. including how our bodies change throughout the stages of life. They have also looked at how diet and lifestyle can affect our bodies and growth.
In Maths, all the children have been learning how to tell the time.
They have mastered reading to the nearest hour, half past, quarter past and quarter to, and the older ones have started to look at digital time aswell.
They have played games on chromebooks and used play doh to create the hour and minute hands on an analogue clock.
Some of the children have enjoyed learning all about India. The children have discovered where India is the world and have looked at the physical and human features of the country.
They have also compared the lives of the people who live in India with our own and finished with an Indian Banquet for all the children in provision.
The construction tuff tray proved to be very popular this half term.
They have thoroughly enjoyed persevering and becoming more knowledgeable about how to cut, stick and create different models. A pyramid, a money box, a snow man, and a teddy bear are just some of the few things that the children have created.
KS2 have been practising their cricket skills this term. They have practised their batting, fielding and bowling skills. They have been playing quick cricket and have developed team work skills, communication and accuracy.
We also held our first 'Family Sport's day'. It was lovely to see everyone joining in an practising all their skills.
This term all the classes at Magna Lane have been swimming. They have enjoyed practising their strokes and becoming water confident.
KS2 transfered the water safety skills to a session of Kayaking at Ulley reservoir. All pupils enjoyed learning a new skill, playing kayaking games and becoming confident in the water.
KS1 have also been to Ulley and enjoyed their den building session. The children showed good team work and collected the best twigs to try and make the den as secure and water tight as possible.
The centre have continued to have animal therapy with Nicola from FourPaws. As well as the rabbits, Nicola also intoroduced us to Skye, the spaniel.
The children have loved having a dog back in the centre and have enjoyed brushing her coat and giving her treats.
A big shout out to Maisie who has made amazing progress in her swimming sessions.
When we first started Maisie was extremely nervous and would not enter the pool without a number of floatation aids. She is now swimming unaided and able to do somersaults in the water. It has been a pleasure to watch her confidence grow.
Well done, Maisie!
