We'd like to start by saying congratulations to all our children who have taken part in different events this term. In school and within the Trust, there have been many performances and opportunities for our children to share their passions and build their confidence.
WPT is 10 Showcase
A special shout out must go to the children who took part in the WPT is 10 Showcase, where children performed on stage and some individual showcases. What an amazing achievement! 👏
We are also super proud of our Christmas performances in school, the inclusion and enjoyment of all our children has been truly magical to see and to watch each child shine.
This term a few of our Ashwood children have started at Woodland View. This provision is an Early Years setting based in the woodland grounds at Monkwood School. Woodland View provides a bespoke learning environment for our younger children within the Trust. We are happy to say our children have settled really well and are thriving.
Thank you, Woodland View.
The Ashwood Team have started the year strong with lots of professional training.
The first inset day of the term we had Sensory Processing Training, which was really interesting and beneficial for all our children.
Staff have also had additional Epilepsy training and trainng around more complex medical needs within school.
Thank you to all parents who have attended the SEN reviews this Autumn Term.
The Spring reviews will be organised in January, so please keep an eye out for your individual date.
Each child on the SEN register has a review termly and, this year, the reviews include the SENDCo and class teacher.
Please be aware due to time constraints additional meetings may not be provided if parents fail to attend planned reviews.
This November the whole school had an indepth external review looking at all aspects of school life, Phonics, Maths, Writing, Behavious etc. SEND was also reviewed throughly. We are very happy to announce the fantastic feedback we recieved.
Here are a few of the points:
The school does everything it possibly can to make sure all pupils with SEND benefit from all that is offered in school
Leaders across the school are highly ambitious for SEND pupils
There is great pastoral care for these pupils and ambition that SEND should achieve as well as they possibly canand at least in-line with their peers
The SENCo is passionate about helping pupils to get the best out of school and develop independence.
